Pree Ama

If You Meet God On The Road...

The Warrior Caste of the Ezu Plateau had long known their purpose — that they might bear their honed fists against the Gods themselves, and in so doing might forestall the doom bought by She Who Smothers the Flame. They trained their whole lives, succumbed to frailty and death, and trained their whole lives again in the next reincarnation that they might produce a weapon that could stand against divine wrath. That was the promise of the Priests and their Servants.

And Pree Ama, in the darkest depths of the Labyrinth, had found what could only be described as the sanctum of the Inner Gods, with She Who Smothers the Flame awakened and ready to destroy.

And there, he had known with certainty that those same powers the priests had watched him and his fellows hone were futile in the face of Her power. Were every warrior in the whole of the plateau to stand against Her in battle, even then would they surely lose. He took those warriors who had been sent to assist him into the depths of the Labyrinth, where the Guardian waited alone, and presented to them the futility of the faith in which they had been raised.

Pree Maya Ten Metia seemed to accept it quietly and confidently, without even speaking to the resting Goddess. Still, as a matter of pride she asked if she may be allowed to attempt a strike. The Guardian aquiesced, and the master struck forward with one hand towards Her being. She could cut through stone or steel, but the Goddess' scales yielded no ground. Pree Ryo Ten Ryam stepped forward next, believing that his confidence in his own faith would guide his weapon-body to the purpose for which it had been honed. He dashed forwards so fast that none could see, and again found his attack broken on the scales of the Guardian.

The Guardian moved, then. A demonstration of her power, a single strike of her spear's butt against the ground that let forth a shockwave to knock all the masters from their feet, with etherial chains conjured from the air to hold them down. She constricted them tighter for a second, pressing the masters for their breath, before yielding and dissolving them into nothingness.

Pree Ama's demonstration was concluded, and the warriors were convinced. Change would have to come to the plateau.
