Death of Empress Callistian
News reaches all corners of Thyslann of the death of Empress Callistian. Bells toll for him across the Northern Empire and messengers carry word of the tragedy to every city and village of the Empire.
He has died before his time, of natural causes, having seen the happy union of Duchess Lucrece Calphurnia and Duchess Tiberius Carnifex in Dolom.

Acclamation of Empress Lucrece
Following the death of Callistian, Lucrece Calphurnia was acclaimed Junior Empress by Northern troops following long-standing tradition. Once news of the popular support for Lucrece reached the Northern Imperial Capital of Lyre, from which Empress Iohanna rules, there was swift confirmation of Lucrece's position as Junior Empress.
A coronation in Tharena is planned once the peace negotiations with the Southern Empire have been concluded.
Peace Negotiations
Oh it's getting busy again here on Kythara. Busy like it was at the height of the Labyrinth exploration. Ah what heady days they were, eh? Wine and coin flowing freely, customers everywhere, only the very occasional stabbing.
— Conversation between local merchants overheard in the Gilded Bucket in Anneia.
People are flooding back to Kythara, which has been appointed by the Northern and Southern Empires as the location for a Peace Summit to negotiate a lasting treaty between them. Retinues of various important diplomats and interested parties are expanding the existing camps outside the Labyrinth and the Market Street outside Anneia is once again bustling with activity.
Supreme Duchess Amalina of the Southern Empire and Empress Lucrece of the Northern Empire, together with a gaggle of diplomats and scholars, are expected to begin negotiations shortly.

A New Poem Released
These hands are not strong enough to choke
the essential spark of being
that inclines the heart to love.
No match make I for the ambitious and empty,
warmongering and half-lived,
my hands grasp at my throat-
To achieve peace by violent means;
to die and come back stronger.
Who was it that said Unsex me here,
take out my blood and
put something more potent in my veins,
to make the spoils of war taste sweeter
if there be no option but to partake,
that I might throw my body on the pyre
and douse the flame.
Make me larger than fear, and I will bend the knee:
Pride will not feed a nation.
And in the Victory of Unbecoming,
when I am the only wave
on the stormless and open sea,
when the warships and tumult of the wind are engulfed
by the vastness of my wanting,
let me dissipate quietly into a smooth horizon
leaving only sea foam in my wake,
and the promise that all will be well.
