Heida

“Alright class settle down, settle down. Today we will be revisiting the lives of the great Labyrinth researchers Heida and Laurel. Has everyone got their maps? Great we will just do a quick run through of what we covered before.

Celestapods can be found where? Fort Hestina yes, their unique climbing ability and colour scheme meaning they are almost impossible to spot for the novice delver. While harmless, keeping an eye on their migration is useful for finding harvestable collections of ripe glimmerberries.

How about False Mountlings? The Axis Field exactly. Both were in fact added to our knowledge of the Labyrinth by Heida and Laurel. A room where gravity on each floating mounting is different means that they are excellent ambush predators, hovering in place until something comes within their reach. An easy way to tell the difference between a mounting and a false mountling is with a weighted rope. The false mountlings ability to hover to mimic individual gravity means that a rope when cast out towards it will not land, instead falling towards the nearest true mounting.

Prismatic hummingbirds? Tree Root Isles, spot on! With their tiny stature and agile nature and speed they can be very very enticing to try and interact with, but do not fall for it. A small group of these four winged beasts can indeed hunt much larger creatures, up to and including the giant mosquito. A scout by themselves will be at danger, especially smaller Wildborn and Ssar.

Good job everyone, you've been listening. Now we shall carry on covering some more of the flora and fauna in the deeper Labyrinth as noted by these prolific researchers.

The Giant's Hollow, home of the Gorge Monitor. These large lizards will pretend to be entries into the cave system within the room, to entice unwary prey in. It will look more like a small cave or alcove than the size of the entryway suggests. Always test first. Their shed teeth look similar to broken flowstone, and can be used as chalk replacement in most scenarios. Other useful foraging items in this room are: linwings; a golden feathery herb with a nutty flavour, tindercap; a mushroom the topside of which is excellent for starting fires combined with a stalk acts as a striking agent with flint, and secone; whose nectar is a grade 1 antiseptic for many common infections.”
